This week I am going to show you how to make some Christmas inspired candle holders to make your home feel a little more festive. Mine are going to say ‘Feliz Navidad’, which translates to ‘Happy Christmas’ in Spanish. Yours can say what ever you want them to, you will just have to change the letters. I will attach the letters that I used in the post, so that you can see the font I used. You might not want to use the same font that I did, and you can easily change it to suit your taste.
What you’re going to need:
- Glass preserve jars
- Frosted glass spray
- Printed Letters (Letter Template)
- Glue Stick
- First, you are going to need to print out either my template or your own that you have made (this can be done on a computer or by hand, just as long as you can cut them out and stick them to the jars). Once you have printed/drawn them, you then need to cut them out (make sure you have enough jars for each letter!). When you have done this, stick them to the jar. I used a glue stick to make sure that the letters didn’t stay stuck to the glass.
- Now you have done that, you can start spraying the jars. Either do this outside, or in a very well ventalated room. If you are doing it inside, remember to protect the surfaces you are using. (You might want to bear this in mind even if you’re spraying outside too!)
It’s not necessary, but I would recommend that you wear gloves to protect your hands from the spray. To spray them, put your hand inside the jar, so that you are not covering any of the outside, and spray each jar. I did this in four parts, front, back and sides. Once you have sprayed each jar, leave to dry for 25 minutes.
- Now repeat Step 2.
- After you have waited 25 minutes the second time, you can remove your letters, being careful not to scratch any of the spray off, as it is not fully cured yet. Once you have done this, you can leave them to dry fully overnight, then you can put your candles in, light them and enjoy your DIY Christmas candle holders.
You could also add ribbons, bells or anything else for a festive feel, but make sure not to put it on the inside because of the candles!
That’s all for now, so, until next time, bye!
